SECOND Annual PureMB.com BBQ - July 10th 2010

Hey everyone!

With great success from the first annual bbq, I'd like to announce our SECOND ANNUAL PureMB BBQ!

Once again we have our own special executive chef Eddie_Jai cooking for us, with the assistance of his sidekicks; the moderators! Eddie has been working hard to create an excellent menu. Here are some of what will be featured at this event (lots more will be there):

Antipasto
Hummus & Crudite
Chickpea Salad
Marinated Chicken
Burgers, Hot Dogs

Lots and lots of food!

Prizes will be given out at the event as well. If you would like to donate, please PM B4TM4N, icecube or me.

So here are the potential sites it'll be located at. We haven't confirmed it exactly but it won't be in the same spot as last time. Same park, different spot.

And yes, we try to take note of speed bumps, for all those lowered rides. ;)


LASTLY, just a reminder that we are accepting donations (cash or prizes) to help out with the cost of the BBQ or to raffle as prizes this year. We hope that every year the prizes will get better and better; and with your help, we can have even bigger BBQs each year!!

Also, just a note about prizes. We will be selling raffle tickets @ $2 each to help contribute to the forum. As mentioned somewhere in the announcements, we are an honest, non-profit group, and make no money from this forum. All proceeds are going to pay for any forum costs/activities we've held in the past or will hold in the future. Right now I just have to figure out where to get those raffle ticket rolls.

If you'd like to donate cash at the BBQ, I will probably have made a ghetto cardboard box by then (if I haven't found a proper safe). Thanks once again for all those supporting us. In the end everything we do is for the benefit of everyone!

Remember to check out the HWA showroom at the back of the compound, they have some cool cars on display like the CLK GTR roadster. Be warned, they don't let you take photos.

I wonder if it has something to do with the seat memory? coz on my ML when I order it I didnt get the seat memory option and the seat memory option includes the tilt down mirror feature...donno if is the same case in newer cars now lol....btw so looking forward to the bbq!!!

yes that could be done, it was done on my slk. you can also get to show how many L of fuel left instead of the km left.

Never had that problem with my W204.
Only had one minor problem, which wasn't the reverse tilt, but rather when the mirrors fold up after parking. After an entire night of sitting outside, (and it was easily -20,) when going out the following morning, the mirrors would sort of crackle when they opened due to some ice build up inside, but still none the less opened with no problems.

@infamouz, does the mirrors only work if you have memeory seats? my friend got it to work on his 63, cuz I was reading on mbworld and some says you don't need memory seats while others say you do?

Sorry, I'm unaware of how C63 specs can be compiled together. All I know is that a lot of C63 owners complain about options they can't have and the pano roof being one of them, (I love it on my W204!)... with that being said, maybe it's possible, maybe not. I have memory seats aswell, so again, if having that option is mandatory.. it's unknown to me, and I can't remember what options were included in specific packages, so I can't help!

Oh, your mirrors came set like that whenever you reverse they tilted down? I was just wondering how you set it to tilt down when you reverse.

Yes, when I put it in reverse, the mirrors automatically tilt down.

I highly doubt that's possible. I'd imagine it's all wired and there might be little electric motors in the back of the mirrors to perform that job of tilting. With that being said, the only logical idea is that it either comes with the car via a package or you don't get it at all... and which package that may be, I couldn't tell you exactly.

Off the top of my head I don't remember but, in order for the tilt down option of the mirror to work when gear selector is put in reverse, the selection must be first made on the button that you use to adjust your mirror, you have the option to chose the left one and then make your adjustments using the arrow pad, then you can chose the right one, and once again use the arrow pad to adjust to your liking, now the trick is, and right now I don't remember is to leave the choice on either the left or right mirror, and at this point it will allow the mirror to tilt down when put into reverse, first try the left, little red light should turn on, if this don't work, then press the button for the right, once again the light should turn on, and then put the car in reverse, if you have this option from the factory, at this point the right hand mirror will tilt down.

I hope my explanation is good enough, if not, we can try this out at the meet......

I will double check, but I don't think there is any setting in the instrument cluster, but I will check it out latter today...just to make sure

You should be able to change it from the Steering Wheel Controls..There is a setting in the Instument Cluster to turn the Park assist on or off...

nothing in my instrument cluster to turn this on or off, but I did check and you must have the right mirror selected for the tilt down to happen when you put the gear selector into reverse....

I don't have a Star Diagnosis System like HKirov, but I can bring my Mityvac MV7201 for anyone who wants to do an onsite oil change. The Mityvac MV7201 will suck all the old dirty oil out of your engine. Just bring your own oil, oil filter & oil filter wrench/adaptor (unless yours uses a 27mm socket which I have).

We've only had them once a year and being that we have just finished our 2nd annual BBQ, we originally thought more than one a year might be a little much (especially since some members come from relatively far distances). However, after seeing SO MANY people show up yesterday, we can always consider another event at another point in the year. Maybe a possibility for year 3 of PureMB.

I haven't even seen the pics of this event yet and people are asking about the next event! That's awesome.

We've only had them once a year and being that we have just finished our 2nd annual BBQ, we originally thought more than one a year might be a little much (especially since some members come from relatively far distances). However, after seeing SO MANY people show up yesterday, we can always consider another event at another point in the year. Maybe a possibility for year 3 of PureMB.


Just remember, if you guys demand it, we'll do it. This forum is for you guys. Thanks again everyone!!

There's a saying in badminton & tennis,... it's not the racquet that makes the player,... it's the player that makes the racquet.

Likewise,... it's not the car that makes the driver,... it's the driver that makes the car. And when we have such great Mercedes-Benz cars,... we obviously have great people driving them.

It was an amazing way to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Special thanks to the pureMB.com crew! Especially Eddie for slaving over a number of hot BBQ grills.

And it was fun trying to match the car with the poster name,... and their real name,... and their face! Next time, we're going to need a whole lot of those "Hello My Name is,..." stickers! "Hello My Poster Name is,..." "Hello My Real Name is,..." "Hello My Car is,..."

Anyways,... I'm sooo looking forward to next year's PureMB.com annual BBQ. And as Claus says,... that's a LONG wait! Maybe we should have a PureMB.com winter BBQ! OK,.. maybe not in Toronto!!!

BTW,... during the Toronto AutoShow, if you go to the Mercedes display and show them your Mercedes Key,... they'll let you into the Mercedes VIP room (usually above the display),... there's usually free snacks and refreshments there. :p
