So another January is upon us, which means that I'm posting up another G2G thread. :D

Last year's meet was an unprecidented success with special thanks to Jay, my friends Mike and Tibi, and all of you guys here at PureMB.com. We had a great meet and got loads of pics.

I expect that this year's meet will be just as big, if not bigger. Word has gotten around during the last couple of years that 190rev spring meets have been good ones, and attendance has grown steadily year over year. Last year we had ~15 cars show up, and it was the biggest yet. I will be posting similar threads at http://190rev.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36279 and http://www.benzworld.org/forums/events/1495146-annual-great-canadian-meet-june-2010-a.html#post3932830 to try and gather as much attention to this as possible.

I also have something very special planned which I'm sure will have the West Coast boys green with envy. I'm keeping it to myself for now but I really do think that it would be exceptionally hard for anyone to top this.

OK so here's the basic rundown: We will do a lunch time meet & greet in the east end of Toronto, followed by a 2-4 hour pleasure drive through the Kawartha Lakes region, a stop in Peterborough for refreshments, and then returning to Toronto in the evening.

I'm triggering a forum vote on http://190rev.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36279 which will close on the 31st of March. Between now and then, everyone who is planning to attend please vote on a Saturday in June to do this. The most popular day is the one we stick to.

Any and all German tuners and enthousiasts are welcome to attend. That means bring your Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, VW, Opel, or Bugatti Veyron.

FINALLY, here is a map of the route I have in mind. I will drive the roads to the north of Peterborough to confirm that they are accessable and well paved prior to the meet.

So the basic idea is this..


We meet at Scarborough Town Centre (Start) in a large parking lot near a restaurant at 11AM.
We talk shop and then eat, departing from this location at ~1:30
We drive to Peterborough, a distance of approxemately 110 km/70 miles.
(1) Stop at a large drumlin known as "Armour Hill" in Peterborough, the location has a commanding view of the town and it has a VERY large parking lot on top.. Ideal for pictures.
Proceed on our pleasure drive through the north end of Peterborough, and through the University grounds. Lots of twists and turns, river/lakeside driving.
Mapquest says the trip should take around 2 hours (Blue line).
(2) Stop for refreshments at a pub in Peterborough at around 5:30PM, departing at around 6:30 for Toronto
(3) Return to Toronto and visit the "Queensway Kruz", a weekly car enthousiast drive which will be taking place at 1608 The Queensway (Canadian Tire parking lot)

Total driving time:6 hours (not including breaks)
Total driving distance:~375 KM

Everybody should remember to tank up before you reach the meet at Scarborough Town Centre. There is only 1 rest stop between there and Peterborough on the highway.

As per the petrol situation, there is a station on Highway 115 just north of the 401. It would be considered the 1/3 and 2/3 marks (going and returning). If fuel is desperately needed, we can always stop there.

OK, so here it is.... and its been burning to come out of me for the last 2 months.


My friend Ian is a small aircraft pilot & flight trainer. He works for a company that does tours, training, and most importantly, aerial photography. He has access to a Cessna 172 with all of the necessary equipment to take pictures of our convoy using the wingtip mounted cameras. Furthermore, he has agreed to take a friend of mine up who will be able to use my heavy hardware (Canon XTI) plus the necessary long lenses to get more pics from the air. He says that he will be able to drop to 500 feet to capture the best images for us. The route that I have chosen will take us over bridges, through forests, beside lakes and rivers, cottages, resorts, the list goes on. Its a great path and I have already driven half of it this past week.

He says that the cost to do this will be $180 for an hour, perhaps a bit longer if we're almost wrapped up on our route. He will take off and land at Peterborough airport and won't lift off until I call him to say that we're ready to go. The plane can cruise at slow speeds so picture oppourtunities will be abundant. There's also the chance that they can use a video camera mounted to one wing so that we might have video footage of our cruise through the wilderness.

By my count, there are around 15 members who have voted on my poll, 10 of them having voted on the 19th. If all 10 of you guys pitch in with me, we're paying less than 20 bucks per person for the chance to have our meet videographed/photographed from the air. This is the kind of oppourtunity that I don't know that I will be able to replicate so if people have interest, lets get this one going.

By the way, its March 31st and the Rev meet is now officially on Saturday, June 19th!!!!

MEET AT SCARBOROUGH TOWNCENTER AT THE JACK ASTORS AT 11AM. CHECK THE PRECEDING PAGES FOR AN ITINERARY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY.

Anybody who needs help getting there or wants to meet on the way, PM me this week and I will provide my cell number. Earlier in the thread, there is a map of the entire route that I have planned out. IF I get enough people in on the aerial photo session, I will order it. I'm having trouble securing enough people to make it affordable. The pilot is available that day and has already brought the cost down a fair bit as a favor to me. I need around 15 people committed, I currently have 6. The cost per person will be less than $50 for this added bonus. Please let me know ASAP. I have to pay the pilot the day of the meet, cash in hand.

You probably have a pierced tire and will require a new one. You can get that done in Guelph in any tire service shop ie: Active Green and Ross. $5-$10 for diagnostics and spare tire install, if you dont want your hands dirty. And then tire cost.

Take the wheel off the car and fill it with air until its the usual PSI, and grab a waterbottle with soap and water inside of it, spray it all over the tire and look for bubbles. If its in the tread you can just get one of those tire plug sets from Canadian Tire, I think they run like 5-10 bucks.

If you desperatly need rims and tires, Ill lend you a pair of 17's. Although they wont match, you can just tell everyone you just came back from the track lol.

My pleasure to organize this sort of thing, but its worth doing because of the strong interest in it. A big thank you to everybody who attended and who wanted to go on the cruise! I had a blast!

I will post up some pics but out of respect for those who went on the cruise, only the pics of the Jack Astor's parking lot lineup will go online. The cost of the aircraft was shared by all and it would be unfair to post up pictures for free after everyone has paid. Two teasers to keep everybody satisfied for now. :bgrin:

HKirov, great choice for your avator. When I saw Kelvin (B4TM4N) & Rupert (icecube) drooling over your CL203 coupe to CL204 CLC coupe conversion, I knew I had to snap that photo. With the rides these guys got, it's not often that they're drooling like little boys in a candy shop!

Before his current SLK, Kelvin (B4TM4N) used to be a CL203 coupe guy,... he still got CL203 in his blood! About 15 minutes before you showed up, I told him someone converted a CL203 coupe to a CL204 CLC coupe and would show up at the meet,... he looked at me like I was nuts or something.

At the next meet, don't forget to bring a pack of microfibre cleaning cloths,.... so you can wipe everyone's drool off your CLC!

Sweet pics. Thanks guys~ That CLC was definitely the rarest thing I've seen in a while (possibly more rare than a Veyron I saw last week). SunnyRayToronto, I bet you must be Jean?

YES I used to have a 2002 red coupe (2.3L engine) that looked almost identical to yours, then a 2005 blue one (1.8L) much like a facelifted version of what HKirov 'had'. I always loved the coupes. Still do!~

It's interesting you referred to it as "red" (that burnt copper red has become more popular over the years). In the rest of the world, it was called "Adventurine Orange" (colour code 487). In USA and Canada, it was called "Paprika Metallic Red",... "red" because North American wouldn't buy an Orange car. That "Paprika Metallic Red" was the signature color for the C-class coupe, pre-face lift. Of course, after the facelift Mercedes dropped that colour for the coupe.

Each Mercedes car model have a signature colour. Every advertisement and brochure of that Mercedes car model must feature a car model in the signature colour. And if you want to buy that Mercedes car model in the signature colour,.... it must be special order (usually at a premium). Mercedes never ship a signature coloured model car unless it's been ordered. Thus, the dealer will never have a signature coloured model sitting in their dealer lot waiting for it to be sold.

I will have 1 DVD for every License Plate that I have, which happens to equal the number of people who paid into the pot. The developer that I have been using contracted pink eye and as such, is horribly contageous. I will be meeting with him tomorrow/Friday to ensure that these pics are ready to go.

It's come to my attention that the DVDs may not be loading correctly? Can anyone verify this? I tested them on Mike's pc to make sure they worked and everything went smoothly so IDK what the problem could be.

Please advise....
