I too love the sound of a V8 engine, provided it has a flat-plane crankshaft. US V8s sound like those illegal, unmuffled Harleys to me, crude, loud, but not at all musical, and lumpy. Sort of like the people that drive them ;)

A guy that used to live near us in the Kootenays had a Lamborghini Urraco, and that little V8 sounded unreal. A flat plane crank will do good things to a V8 engine's aural quality.

To me, a Porsche flat six has always sounded better than a US V8.
