I'd be looking to do the Brembo brake upgrade on my CLS.

I would most likely purchase and get it done at Oakridge Auto.

How much does a setup like that cost? Does anyone know and can they give me a ballpark estimate?

I agree....Brembo is the only way to go.

Thanks for the info, definitely will be looking into this once I've acquired the vehicle.

Yea generally with Brembo and with most higher end brake kits, you're looking at a grand per caliper (front), 6 piston, 6 grand, 8 piston 8 grand, 12 piston, 12 grand....(Dont know if brembo makes a 12 piston but EVO sport used too)

@ Wizkid ..... If ur planning to get aCLS55/63 I told u before get the P030 package it comes with 8 piston n 2 piece rotors ......
Only thing missing in AMG Brake Setup is Directional Rotors n Monoblock Calipers.......

12 piston is made by Rotora...... But with Brembo I can still use my Brake Sensors.....n Brembo builds for Mercedes / AMG n all Major Highend Tuners....

@Diasoman .......... I needed new brakes dealer tag was 2200 I jus did it as a Mod...... N the factory brakes suck on a CLS u need performance brakes....

I will definitely be looking for the P030 option, though in speaking with my sales rep (and also trolling online for newly available CLS63s, the P030 is rare! I have only seen one so far (and that too in Calgary!). Seems like the P030 is more for those that will be taking to the track from time to time, so I can live with the Brembo upgrades :)...then again if one is available around the time I make my purchase, you know which way I would be leaning towards :)

Regarding the pistons....Im totally ignorant on this topic. So the more the pistons the better? Whats the difference?

Also you mentioned something about the brake sensors not being able to work with 12 piston?

More piston better Brakeing.............Yes.....But since Brembo is the Manufacture for AMG Brakes only the BBK upgrade from Brembo is made to work with factory sensors.....

All other brands r Bolt on but not Sensor compatible...................to Mercedes......After 8 Piston its all show ...ie Brembo doesent make 12 piston...

Yup, more pistons = more stoping power, but it doesnt always equate to a firmer petal. You may still be throwing a similar amount of distance from your break petal with bigger brakes then stock. But if you upgrade the Master Cyliner, you'll shorten the throw (Eleminate that stepping into mud feeling) and increase stopping power as well. Your petal throw will be much shorter. You may never need to throw your petal down to the ground after the upgrade.

Theres also for example an 8 piston that press on either side (4 inside 4 outside) and also sets that push only from the outside (8 pots on just the outside) and then theres MB that use that one giant piston...I dont know about that...lol

Bigger pistons are really nice in apperence. But unless your going to the track or going to car shows you probably wont need a BBK. I do suggest through, to get braided lines. Just incase you slam the brakes on a hot day, and you need to slam the brakes on again when the fluid is still hot. Braided steel lines are generally cheap, about 100-200 a set. I have Goodrich lines and they costs about 110 I beleive.

@UDWANTIT2. Yup, I agree, I think the 8 piston that Brembo makes would be sufficient as I don't want to compromise functionality of the brake sensors. 12 piston (and beyond if there is such a thing) would just be too much showmanship. Showmanship is not worth it if its starting to reduce/limit how the vehicle was originally designed to function.

@Eddie_Jai. Agreed - BBK is for enhanced performance. Most buyers of BBKs are folks taking their vehicles to the track, which I don't think I will be doing. I do think from a safety perspective, the added breaking power that comes with BBK is great, not to mention the cosmetic appearance of the large colored brake calipers.

I've seen silver, red and bronze colored Brembo calipers. Do these come in standard colors or can they be customized to whatever color you like? From what I've seen I'm leaning towards the bronze colored calipers on a black CLS63. Red looks too "Ferrari sport car-ish", while silver looks too "stock-ish".

@ Eddie............................All Brembo Kits come with Stainless Steel Braided Lines.........it is My Favorite MOD......n the Interior.

Honestly Wizkid, no need to upgrade brakes on any AMG. they will already suck your face off when you stand on them. On a regular CLS, sure, but it's a huge waste of money on any amg. 6 piston with 360mm rotor is stock on them. Brembo make both the OEM caliper and rotors. The P030's is great, but be aware that replacing rotors is close to $2600. Mine are due and I am trying to source replacement friction discs and keep the stock hats, but 390mm rings is tough to find.

Thats what I hear....I'm looking for more of the 'show' aspect of it all. The Brembo name on colored calipers. Perhaps I should get just the Brembo calipers, assuming they any can go with the stock rotors that come with the CLS63. Anyidea what Brembo calipers alone would run in terms of $$?

The stock 6 piston AMG calipers are huge compared to almost everything around and they are already made by Brembo. Just paint or powder coat them and be done with it. Also I am 99% sure that CLS63's come with 2 peice 360mm from rotors already, so that saves unsprung wieght as well. Bottom line is you're gonna spend huge money to effectively end up with the same thing you have stock. I would leave it alone, and spend the money on wheels/ headers/ tune.

Thanks for the advice!

Makes sense. No point spending all that money to essentially end up with the same end result as what comes as stock.

Wheels and rims are definitely something I'd be looking at and have had a number of people who are ready to help out with where to get them once I'm ready and closer to making my purchase.
