Since this forum is still empty.... Let me get it going with my HID install...

I have researched for a long time to find a HID kit for a B200T. Since B200T's battery is not inside the engine bay, I eliminated the kits requiring relays and direct connection to the battery. I don't want to bother with resistor, capacity (aka canbus fix) or STAR diagnostic change. My final choice is a MTEC 4300K kit. The kit looks good quality (ballast has ignitor builtin) and the bulb is GE. Here are some pictures.

I have very happy with the result and the simple installation. I think the light output is close to 3 times of the stock H7 bulbs. The beam pattern has not changed much (stock halogen projector). Also, I do not notice any hotspot.

The seller told me that W245 uses the same kit as W164.

I have the promo code to get $50 off... PM if you want the code.

Great write-up! Thanks for posting :)

The HIDs look 10x better than regular halogens. Gives your car that "pop" feeling to it

I have tried Philips' ExtremPower H7. They are not a lot brighter than stock H7. They lasted less than 1 yr and costed me $50 a pair.

Therefore, I decided to go the HID route. There are good HID products out there but many of them need something additional to trick the computer (resistor, capacitor, ECU setting update). My W245 is a daily car so I need a plug and play kit which I can finish the installation in an afternoon.

I have considered OEM Bi-Xenon. It would cost $4k and auto-leveling and headlight washer are still not included.

Relays are just a switch. You use them if you don't want to draw power from the stock harness, but rather use the stock harness as a 'switch' signal. You will then hook up power directly to the relay from the battery. When the stock harness is on (triggers relay switch), current flows through relay from battery to your ballast.

If you have bi-xenon, switching the bulbs is just plug and play.

How easy/accessible is the light bulbs on the GLK? If it is anything like the SLK, I would say don't bother, check out my DIY in the SLK section.

My last set of bulbs I got from a member here, supershyguy.

A mechanic told me that I cant get the HID conversion kit to work for the high and low beam lights as they are one bulb? I got a conversion kit from a guy in the GTA for my W202, is this correct?

You will need to use a relay for that setup.

I have a MTEC H7 4500 kit. It was a simple install and doesn't give any computer errors.

This is true... Bi-xenons work with a xenon normal beam and have a halogen high beam... on cars like the SLR they have two xenons but on xenon bulb is no brighter then the other it just adds 2x the light then you turn a high beam on the SLR

W202 did not have bi-xenons you will replace your halogen bulb which had both low and high beam built in with a single xenon bulb.
